Installation Info

Make sure to get the entire surface of the corner wet.
We recommend using a pump sprayer that delivers a steady, even spray of water to ensure the corner is completely saturated. Without sufficient water, the adhesive will not activate and the corner will not bond to the gypsum board.

Spray water evenly onto the adhesive.
If you get a lot of water on one end of the corner and very little on the other end, the adhesive will activate at different times. Spraying more water results in slower activation time and longer working time for repositioning and adjustment. Spraying less water results in faster activation time and less working time. Spray it evenly to get even activation and working time.

Allow enough time for the adhesive to activate.
HYDROTRIM’s water-activated adhesive requires 15-60 seconds to activate and be ready for installation. To test it, place your finger on the adhesive side of the corner and raise it upwards. The adhesive should have a honey-like consistency when it is ready for application. If the adhesive is not activating, make sure you have saturated the corner with room temperature or warm water. Allow enough time for the adhesive to activate before installing.

Use a HYDROTRIM roller for best installation results.
The HYDROTRIM roller ensures that the corner is pressed evenly and firmly onto the wall for optimal bonding. While HYDROTRIM can be installed by hand, our experience is that the Outside 90 and Bullnose profiles install faster and better with a roller. Make sure to apply solid pressure to the roller. The harder you push, the better the bond.

Use room temperature or warm water.
HYDROTRIM’s water-activated adhesive will activate more quickly if you use water that is 55 degrees or warmer. For cold climates, you can use a submergible bucket heater to keep water consistently warm. These are available at most farm and home stores. Farm Innovators also sells this product at Amazon.com – Submergible Bucket Heater with Attached Guard Model W-449. The unit heats 5 gallons of water up to 110°F, with a built-in thermostatic control that maintains water temperature between 85°F and 110°.

Use clean water.
Using muddy or dirty water will weaken the strength of HYDROTRIM’s adhesive. Use clean water when installing HYDROTRIM corners.

Make sure the surface is dust-free.
The water-activated adhesive on HYDROTRIM will not bond to the drywall if there is a layer of dust on the surface. Wipe dust off before applying your HYDROTRIM corner.

Using HYDROTRIM on moisture resistant gypsum board is not recommended.
HYDROTRIM may require additional fasteners when used with moisture resistant drywall.

Hold HYDROTRIM at an angle while spraying with water.
Keeping the corner at an angle while spraying it allows excess water to run down and off the corner, which ensures better saturation. In addition, if the corner is laid completely flat during or after spraying it with water, the water will sit in the apex of the corner and will not dry properly.

Do not use on previously finished corners or painted surfaces.

PREPARATION: HANGING DRYWALL
When installing drywall for 90¢ª corners, hang drywall as shown. Make sure drywall panels are hung set back at the corner so that one panel does not protrude past the other panel.

INSTALLATION

For best installation results follow these steps:

Step 1

Saturate the adhesive side of the HYDROTRIM corner completely with clean, plain, tap water using a pump sprayer or spray bottle.

Important: DO NOT use a sponge to apply water to the adhesive of the HYDROTRIM.

Make sure the entire adhesive surface of the HYDROTRIM corner is completely wet.

Step 2Hydrotrim-timer.jpg
After applying the water, allow 15-60 seconds adhesive activation time before installing the HYDROTRIM corner. Adhesive should be tacky to touch. Activation time will vary depending upon room temperature, humidity and temperature of water in your pump sprayer. Warmer temperatures will require shorter activation time and colder temperatures will require longer activation time.

CAUTION: Do not soak HYDROTRIM corners.

IMPORTANT: Saturate the ENTIRE adhesive surface of the HYDROTRIM corner with CLEAN, PLAIN, TAP WATER using a pump sprayer or spray bottle, allow 15 - 60 seconds adhesive activation time before installing corner.

IMPORTANT: do not use a sponge to apply water to the adhesive of the HYDROTRIM!

Step 3
Place the wetted, adhesive side of the HYDROTRIM corner on the wall corner, aligning it tightly to the ceiling with the apex of the HYDROTRIM squared with the center of the corner. Make sure it is straight.

Tip: Snap chalk lines to ensure straight corners on bulkheads and long runs.

Step 4HT-install-roller.jpg
Firmly press the HYDROTRIM corner with a roller, making sure the HYDROTRIM flanges fully contact and bond to the drywall surface. For best results, use the HYDROTRIM Outside 90 Roller.

REPOSITIONING: The HYDROTRIM corner may be removed, re-wetted and repositioned if adhesive has not set-up.

IMPORTANT: Once adhesive has set-up, the HYDROTRIM corner cannot be repositioned and will be permanently bonded to the drywall.

APPLYING & FINISHING
The HYDROTRIM corner can be mudded immediately after application using All-Purpose joint compound. If boxing, wait until adhesive has set-up.

Hydrotrim-knife-1.jpgUsing an 8”- 10” taping knife, apply all-Purpose joint compound over the HYDROTRIM corner, filling the holes. Let dry.
